Greece to Grant Job-Tied Residence Permits to Undocumented Migrants

The Greek parliament has passed a new law offering residence and work permits tied to job offers to around 30,000 illegal migrants, mostly agricultural workers.

The move is aimed at improving working conditions, enhancing tax compliance, and establishing legal status as well as at meeting the pressing demand for unskilled labour in the country.

The law applies to migrants who have been staying in Greece without permits for a minimum of three years as of the end of November.
